School - 10th Grade for US/Year 11 for UK/Seconde for France

So, the crazy French school systems means that I have school from 8 in the morning until 6 at night. My mother, who didn't know that that's how French high schools (called "lycées") do it, was enraged to find out that I'm going to be at school for 10 hours a day. "You're older, you have more independence and freedom, but it also means more work."

I mean some ADULTS have 9-to-5 jobs, and they're paid! I have 8-to-6 school days. My MOM had 8-to-2 or 3 school days until the age of 18. I'm 15. I hate the French school system. (My favorite topic for rants, btw.)

So here's a typical school day, if I take the bus to school and back:

6 am. Rise. Eat. Get dressed.
7 am. Leave house, dad drops me off at bus stop.
7 something am. Get on bus.
Some time later. Get off bus. Take another bus.
7.50 or 55 am. At school.
8 am. School.
6 pm. Take bus back home.
6 something pm. Take another bus.
6 something else pm. Be picked up at bus stop by dad.
7 pm. Home.
Between 7 and 10 pm. Homework, dinner, shower, and leftover time is "me" time.
10 pm. Pass out because of exhaustion.
6 am. Rise and repeat. (Like the pun?)

If I give up an hour's sleep and go to bed at 11 pm, I have an extra hour of "me" time. Lucky me...

Hopefully, I won't take the bus to school AND back everyday. But this would mean that for 12 hours a day, I wouldn't be at home. I'm only 15, does the school want me to kill myself?

It's ridiculous, because in Germany and in England (examples that I'm sure of) kids my age go to school from:
  • 9 to 3 or 4
  • or 8 to 3
  • or even 8 to 4.
So why can't I have that? Why can't French school manage to make our school days shorter? Why?

I don't know how I'm going to survive this. Also, we don't have lockers, meaning I'll have to keep my bag with me all the time. But we're allowed to use our phones and other electronic devices in the courtyard, unlike my old school who completely forbid us to use our phones. And during lunchtime, the gates are open and you can leave without anybody checking your card or ID or book-thingy or whatever, and they trust you to come back.

My schedule is too complicated to write here because unlike American schools, it's not the same everyday, also we have more than just 6 or 7 different subjects. My subjects are:
  • French
  • English
  • Spanish
  • Italien
  • Maths
  • Science
  • Physics/Chemistry
  • Sport
  • Geography
  • History

So yeah, I might possibly die. On the other hand, I don't have Technology, which was useless, Art and Music anymore. Yay! Also, only 2 hours of sport a week.

Lats night I saw LotR 3 and I LOVED IT. Although knowing that it was the longest of the 3 before watching it would have been good... Fell asleep very quickly, then my dad woke me up in the middle of the dream. I know it was so that I wouldn't sleep until 1 pm, but in my dream I was about to try on a dress and now I'll never know what the dress looks like on me. :(

I hate being woken up in the middle of a dream.

Today I did... nothing much actually. Friends, eating, and, uh, that's it. Lazy day. But maybe I'll do some writing tonight. And reading. Or... Hmm. I could go out to this comedy theater thingy, but I haven't quite made my mind up if I want to go or not. I kind of do, but it means showering and getting dressed for just 3 hours, and then getting back home sweaty and dirty again (that sounds bad, but I'm referring to the hot weather). I guess I could just shower again. Maybe... Right?

Ugh. What should I do? *bites nail* I should. Okay. I will. Going now. Bye.
